Pugh Rogefeldt
"Ja dä ä dä"

Released: 1968
Pugh Rogefeldt's first album was quite revolutionary when it was released. It turned up at a time
when English was the language used by Swedish songwriters. And here was a rock-album with Swedish
lyrics! Well, "rock-album" might not be a good label on this LP 'coz it's really an odd mixture
between folk, rock, jazz...whatever. And it's absolutely brilliant. Contributing musicians are
Jojje Wadenius (once member of Blood, Sweat And Tears) and Janne Carlsson (who has co-written a
the song "Tax-free", recorded by Jimi Hendrix!). Apart from the great, sometimes rather cryptic,
songs there's another reason I'm really fond of this album : it obviously wasn't done to "please
the market" or the critics. I've always felt that Pugh did this album because he had to express
himself in some way...
Pugh Rogefeldt has released a number of very good albums (and a bunch of rather bad ones). A couple
that are almost equally good are "Pughish" and "Bolla och rulla".
