Van Morrison
"Astral Weeks"

Released: 1968
This album must be regarded as Van Morrisons first true solo
record. And what an album it is! This is one that I can listen to again
and again and again. It's sometimes quite hypnotic, like a mantra. Folky,
airy and jazzy. Mind you, I don't really like jazz, but for these songs
the arrangements are absolutely perfect. Stand-out tracks? Well, this is
one of those albums that really works as a whole, but if I have to mention
a few tracks I'd go for "Madame George", "Ballerina", "Sweet Thing" and
"The Way Young Lovers Do"...
Van The Man's records tend to be a bit samey. He's been doing his thing
for ages now, but he does it brilliantly! Among my personal favourites are
"A Sense of Wonder" and "No Guru, No Method, No Teacher".
